I will be putting various documents here that are relevant to the GAO-ICANN report. Included are several articles written over the past two years documenting the problem with ICANN as a private entity to privatize what is a public treasure. Also included are some issues of the Amateur Computerist which contain a variety of articles that explore the problem with ICANN's creation. I also have copies of public documents here like the Office of Inspector General's NSF Report from 1997 which is important as it describes why the DNS and IP systems are public property needing public protection. Also I have a sample of another GAO report, one about the FCC creating a private corporation. One can compare the detailed factual description in that report with the lack of a comparable description in the GAO-ICANN report. Also the GAO-FCC report doesn't indicate it was given to the FCC to rewrite before being released to the public. As soon as there is time, I will add the submissions I made to the GAO to to consider as background and information for their investigation of ICANN. Their final report didn't, however, refer to anything that was provided to them. Please write me with any comments, suggestions for other documents to be included and any help in getting public discussion in the media ongoing about the nature of changing the public nature of the infrastructure of the Internet into a private entity with no protection for the public.
