To begin with I would like to thank you once more for your kindness and
commitment you made to help us. Special thanks for the Internet site. I am
really happy that we are likely to have the same ancestors. I'm sure that
Menache Hauben is also connected with our family.
I am going to Przemyśl on 27th March to Wielkie Oczy and Rawa Ruska to
search traces of our relatives.
I am going to tell you what I know about my grandfather Adolf Hauben. He was
born in Karów on 19th March 1903. His father was Alojzy Hauben and his
mother was Berta Hauben nee Strang. And this is all I know for sure. I 'm
not sure whether he had 3 or 4 brothers, I don't know their names either, or
what happened to them. I don't know the names of those on the photograph.
The sixth one from the bottom of the ladder is my grandfather. I don't know
any details from his childhood or youth. I know that he had finished a
secondary school in Lwów around 1924, and then he became the head of a
distillery in Basznia Dolna. On 24th October 1931 he got married to my
grandmother Stanisława Skoropat. Since 1935 he was living and working in
Zbydniów as an administrator of Zbigniew Horodyński's property. During the
World War I he was only 11, but when World War II broke out he was fighting
in defence of Poland, and during the Nazi occupation he was in hiding and
was fighting in the Polish Underground Army of the Resistance Movement AK,
still staying in Zbydniów. For the defence of his homeland he was awarded a
medal "For the Defence War". In 1941 his only son Andrew was born. They were
living in Zbydniów until 1963. Then they moved to Jarosław. My father left
school there and he was working as a civil servant. He got married in 1968
to my mother Danuta. Mum and Dad moved to a village Porąbka Uszewska near
Tarnów, where my mother still works as a doctor, and my father is retired.
In 1974 my grandmother and grandfather moved from Jarosław to Brzesko
Okocim, and there they died - the grandfather in 1979 and the grandmother in
1982.Is Max's brother name was Adolf?
I was born in 1969, so I was 10 when my grandfather died and I didn't
remember much. But I know that he never said anything about his family from
Karow, almost as if he was afraid of something. World War II, Holocaust,
followed by years of communism and anti-Semitism in Poland- these were hard
times.  One had to forget about loved ones and close ones.
I recall my grandfather as a thoughtful and withdrawn man. He eagerly
communed with nature and he used to hunt - he was a member of a Hunting
Club.  He didn't say whose name Dorota I inherited. He mentioned just once
that his brothers left for the USA, but was it really as he said? or he just
wanted it to happen? This is what I want to find out. I think that memories
about war hadn't left him until the end of his life, but I am sure he would
have been happy if he knew I have just learnt about you and your relatives.
I studied pedagogy. In 1991 I got married to Jack Kołodziej. Jack is an
electronic engineer. We have two children - Peter is 9 and he attends a
primary school, and Agnes is 5. I am not working now as I bring up the
children. We still live in Brzesko and here we have started to build our
house.
My sister Barbara is 25 and is a student in her last year. She studies law
at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, and she is going to live and work
there.
We are all very happy that we have a new family and we are delighted that
you want to get acquainted with us.
We would like to invite you to Poland so as we could meet together, and
know each other better. We could visit places our ancestors come from.

nie wpaść w ręce hitlerowców.Możliwe,że jego ojciec też miał zmienione
imię.Czy wiesz jak miały na imię dwie kolejne
