I would like to extend a big thanks from the 3 of us to Dorota for having gone to Wielkie Oczy and providing us with these records. I have been studying these records of names now for several days. I am very confused about how many Menasche's there could have been. Also it seems that with the exception of 1 birth record from 1846, the rest of the records are from 1900 on, hence Max and Adolf are not there, mind you there are no birth records for those born after 1900 either, (Gusti etc.). So it looks to me that most of the birth records are most likely lost. Getting back to Menasche. My guess would be that Izaak listed here as the father of Menasche and Jacob is the same person as Joshua (name given to us by Yohanan) maybe he had a double name Issak Joshua or Joshua Issac? There definitely seem to be some mistakes in the dates - for example: Jacob and Dwora got married in 1916? and yet their daughter Lea born 1899? (wife of Josef Wolf). What I also don't understand is that Dwora daughter of Menasche and Fraidy was born in 1876? therefore older than Adolf and Max, so I don't think this was our Menasche whose first wife, mother of Adolf and Max was Chana Unger. So I really don't know whether this somehow means that our Menasche and Yohanan's Menasche were not the same person. In any case I would think someone in Yohanan's family would know the name of Jacob's wife, whether she was called Dwora. This leads me to my next assumption that Debory whose 2 children Gitel and Abraham is the same Debory who was Yohanan's grandmother? Next, Scheindel Hauben 1863-1919 widow of Menasche and daughter of Moses and Sary Weim - here I keep wondering whether this could have been Gusti's mother Sadie Urim and that the handwriting was so poor that the last name looked like Weim when it should really have been Urim. ( I know that my father recently wrote you that we didn't know the name of Gusti's mother, but he was wrong as I had obtained the info from the US SSDI). So now we have at least one or more Menasche's and 4 or more ? wives . Chana Unger, Sadie Urim who perhaps is Sheindel, Yochaved (mentioned in Yohanan's letter 0f 1998 but who is probably the same person as Debora in his recent letters) and Fraidy (Fradel). We have not heard yet from Yohanan since we last wrote him a week ago, so he is probably very busy with the questions we had asked him and now he has all these records to look at as well. Perhaps if you are writing to Michel you could mention to him that the Central Archives in Jerusalem has a lot of European records including I believe Poland. I presume he only goes to Tel -Aviv, but since he did mention that he would go to the Genealogy Center at Beth Hatefutsoth perhaps he would also be interested in the Central Archives. I myself am interested in the Central Archives because it looks like they may have a duplicate set of all the records housed in the Lvov Archives (including really old Wielkie Oczy records from 1791- ) . See: http://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/dorot-ta.txt and http://sites.huji.ac.il/archives/. Another thing if you look at the pages I gave you from the book by Miriam Weiner on archival holdings, it lists all the archives in Przemysl. I am assuming that Dorota probably went only to the townhall in Przemysl where only 20th century records are kept, all previous records are sent to the archives. I would think that the records for Yoshea and your branch must be there in the archives. Thats all for now. Cousin Jenny P.S. The new contact in Begium looks interesting.
